“I would recommend that all the communities do this [implement Boys Run] because you can see all the fun the kids have and the Elders have a lot of fun cheering them on”

Ruth Demmert, PhD, Elder and Cultural Educator

“I get a chance to see the kids come out of their shells and become their own identity… I see their self esteem  get better and make better decisions for themselves, that is what we want them to see and learn – about the respect aspect of growing up in a village”

Anthony Gastelum, Behavioral Health/Mental Health Worker at SEARHC

Boys Run I toowú klatseen piloted its first season in the fall of 2014 with great success and support in Juneau and Sitka, Alaska. From there it has grown to more schools and new communities, such as Kake, Alaska.
